Headcount
The total number of employees in an organisation, team or category at a given point in time.
Headcount is a straightforward count of the people an organisation employs. It underpins workforce planning, budgeting and reporting, and is often broken down by team, location or contract type.
It differs from full-time equivalent (FTE), which converts part-time roles into a proportion of a full-time post; both measures are useful for different purposes.
