BambooHR expands global hiring with Contractor Management powered by Remote
BambooHR has added Contractor Management, delivered in partnership with Remote, to help organisations engage and pay contractors internationally. Grouper is sharing this global news.
BambooHR has announced Contractor Management, a capability delivered in partnership with Remote, aimed at helping organisations engage, manage and pay contractors across borders. Grouper, BambooHR's authorised partner for Ireland, the UK and Europe, is relaying this global announcement.
As more organisations work with contractors and freelancers in multiple countries, the administrative and compliance load grows quickly. Contractor Management is designed to bring contractor onboarding, agreements and payment into a more joined-up workflow, reducing the number of disconnected tools and spreadsheets that teams typically rely on.
For employers in Ireland, the UK and the EU, worker classification is the point that deserves the closest attention. The line between a genuine contractor and an employee is drawn differently here than in the United States. In Ireland, misclassification can be examined by Revenue and the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC); in the UK, HMRC's IR35 / off-payroll working rules and employment-status tests apply. These frameworks are distinct from US arrangements such as the 1099 contractor model and W-9 forms, which are US-specific and do not apply in our region. No software removes the employer's responsibility to classify workers correctly under local law.
GDPR is the other consideration for European buyers. Engaging contractors internationally means processing personal data across jurisdictions, so it is worth confirming how data flows between BambooHR and Remote, and what safeguards apply, before onboarding people through the feature.
Grouper's role is to help customers in our region assess whether Contractor Management fits their needs, and to be clear about which parts of the offering are available and appropriate for Irish, UK and EU organisations. Where the honest answer is that a customer should take local employment-law or tax advice, we will say so.
Organisations considering international contractor engagement through BambooHR can contact Grouper for a briefing tailored to Irish, UK and European requirements.
