Competency Framework
A structured set of skills, behaviours and knowledge that defines effective performance in a role.
A competency framework describes the capabilities people need to succeed โ the skills, behaviours and knowledge expected at different levels or in different roles. It gives a common language for what 'good' looks like.
Frameworks bring consistency across recruitment, development, appraisal and promotion, so decisions rest on evidence rather than gut feeling.
To stay useful, a framework must be kept current and genuinely embedded in day-to-day practice rather than filed away and forgotten.
