KPI (Key Performance Indicator)
A measurable value that shows how effectively an individual, team or organisation is meeting a key objective.
A Key Performance Indicator is a specific, measurable metric used to track progress towards an important goal. In HR, KPIs might cover time-to-hire, retention, absence rates or engagement scores.
Good KPIs focus attention on what matters, turning strategy into something tangible that people can influence and leaders can monitor.
They work best when limited in number, clearly defined and tied to genuine outcomes, so they inform decisions rather than becoming targets pursued for their own sake.
